Success Story: PCOS/IUI

My husband and I got married 3 years ago. I had an appointment with my OBGYN a week after we returned from our honeymoon. I was devastated when I was diagnosed with PCOS and was basically told to brace myself for a long, hard journey. From that day, my husband and I "tried" to conceive. I was immediately prescribed Metformin, which made me really sick. After several irregular cycles and months of not ovulating, I was referred to an infertility specialist. I started seeing the doctor in October of '06. I was put on more medications and monitored monthly for ovulation. Eight months later I went in for lab work and ended up with a vaginal ultrasound. The doctor sat down with us and told us that he didn't think we would be able to conceive on our own. All the lab work indicated that I was ovulating every month so now I was really confused. I didn't understand what the problem was now. The doctor, my husband and I decided it was time to take the next step (IUI). At the beginning of August I started taking 100 mg of Clomid. I was sick for 5-6 days. I could not hold down any food and I lost 3 pounds. We did our first insemination yesterday and I had severe abdominal cramps all day. Now, the waiting game continues. I have to go in for a pregnancy test on September 10th. Please pray that this works. I admire every last one of you for being such strong women and willing to share your stories of hope, sadness and frustrations. May God bless you all!
