blocked tubes

Wantsbaby2, When I was 18 my pap came back with cancercells. At 19 I had what I believe is called a leap procedure when they laser. I really wish they would warn girls of that age of possible infertility problems later in life. Anyways, after marriage standing on my head, charting my basil(sp) tempature for years, I had the hsg done. It showed blocked tubes. Ding...next round. I then had a laproscopy done (surgery when they put cameras in in your sides and bellybutton) after surgery the doc showed me the pictures and where scar tissue had built up on my tubes. There also was an option of removing the scar tissue but, he said, I would be out of work for 6 weeks with no guarantee of a successful pregnancy. Most likely a tubal pregnancy he said. So with my first consult with my IVF doctor, I asked her if the doctor that did the leap procedure is responsible for my inferite state. She just said no. So it's my fault? I want to blame someone. I just wish he told me then the risks. My scar tissue has been building for 10 years before I saw the hsg. If you need the procedure done now, I don't think there would be time for any to develop before IVF. I don't know....cassandra

Thanks Cassandra, I think IVF bipasses the tubes anyway. I am just a little scared of the leep procedure itself. What the heck, we've been poked and prodded anywhere and everywhere at this point anyway right?!!! :-\ A little more will be a piece of cake! :P

I am really sorry you had to go through this at such a young age. I will be sure to ask my doctor if she thinks the procedure might damage my tubes. (Just in case I might need them someday!!!! Hahahaha! It's a long shot, but you never know!) After all this is over with we will procede to IVF with hopefully the same outcome as you had!!!!

I wish you all the best with your pregnancy. It is sooo wonderful. Have you told your mom and sister yet? Thank you for sharing with me Cassandra!

Yes I did call and tell them 2 weeks ago but I haven't heard back from them. That's ok I have resigned myself to their indifference. My mom in law called me yesterday to see how I was feeling. She, on the other hand won't stop talking about it. I finally had to say please stop. I'm too darn nervous about the upcoming u/s to discuss twins or singleton. I just would like a good outcome and a healthy child. Good luck to you wantsbaby2. Take care....cassandra

Cassandra,
I am glad you have your mother in law to share your excitment. You deserve a little attention. I am so sad about your family's indifference. You don't need that in your life right now. Don't worry my dear, I know it's hard. Try to stay positive and think good thoughts. I will be thinking of you and hoping you will feel better about all this soon. I know if I ever get pregnant I will worry about these same things too.
