Lupron (leuprolide) is a medication that works to reduce testosterone in men or estrogen in women. It is often used to treat symptoms of prostate cancer, but can also be applied as an effective IVF medication.
Here are some patient experiences with Lupron for IVF:
AskaPatient
Patient 1: She used Lupron to treat endometriosis symptoms, and found relief almost instantly. One negative side effect is that it increased the migraines that she regularly suffered from.
Patient 2: This patient is using Lupron to help shrink uterine fibroids (that often complicate conception). She still hasn’t seen if the fibroids shrank, but her period’s stopped, so she thinks the drug is working.

Patient 3: This woman used Lupron for 3 months to treat endometriosis before trying IVF. After 2 months on the drug, she feels great. The only side effects she’s experienced are mild hot flashes.
Patient 4: This patient took Lupron to help her get pregnant. Some side effects included headache and mood problems (depression). Overall, the drug did work, so she’s satisfied with its effectiveness. But she’s not a fan of needles.

Patient 5: She also used this drug to treat endometriosis. She was hesitant at first, but Lupron helped her feel better. She did have some hot flashes, vaginal dryness and joint pain, but the symptoms eventually went away. She plans to continue with the drug.
