hcg levals after a miscarrige

i was just 4-6 weeks along and i migarried last night and was wondering how long it takes for my hcg levals to go back to normal ?

I had my second miscarriage (natural miscarriage) about 5 weeks ago. I was 6 weeks pregnant. One week ago (4 weeks after the miscarriage) I got a period (at least seemed like a period and Dr. said she couldn't tell me whether it was a period or leftover bleeding from the miscarriage) but now 5 weeks after the miscarriage my HCG is at 16 (it has been slowly dropping since the miscarriage). I had an ultrasound a couple of days ago that was "absolutely normal". My OB is pushing me to do a D&C because she is concerned that the tissue may turn into cancerous tissue (or has already turned into cancerous tissue). I am reisting a D&C as my levels are so close to zero I don't want to have to undergo surgery and I also don't want to have to wait another couple of months after the D&C to start TTC. I think I should wait it out another couple of weeks. Has anyone had similar experiences?
