Success Story: And Then There Were Four
Our story starts about two years ago when my husband and I decided that we wanted to try and have a baby. I knew that my cycle had to be regulated by birth control pills since I was sixteen years old. So I knew in my heart that getting pregnant was going to be difficult. My husband was always the positive one and said that it would happen.
After going to my OBGYN with no results, a friend from work told me about her doctor and that he was a specialist in infertility. We started with him in August of 2003 and within a month I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I was thirty one years old and finally I had a diagnosis to my issues. Within three months my doctor had discovered that my body did not produce FSH. My body produced a lot of LH, but no FSH. After about three to four weeks, and almost giving up, my dosage was increased to three shots a day. Finally my Folicles reached the diameter they needed to be. I gave myself the trigger shot which caused my body to ovulate and drop the folicle.
On November 16, 2004, I was insemminated and in August of 2004 our beautiful baby girl was born completely healthy. Well a little over a year later we were ready to try again. We had to go thru the same process and I was very scared that we would not be so lucky this time. On January 16, 2006 we were inseminated again and about two weeks later we found out we were having triplets, two boys and a girl. I am currently twenty weeks pregnant and the babies are due in October.
I share our story with you, which in our minds is a pure miracle because at one time the thought of having children was inconceivable to me. Always keep the faith and believe that it can happen. We are so blessed and thankful for our Doctor, his staff, and their patience with us. Those first three to four weeks of exams and no changes were hard but they never gave up. There was always one more try in them. The final outcome is worth all the tests you go through and all the negative results.
