I am looking for any information about medical insurance coverage for a surrogacy arrangement in CA. I have undergone 11 IUI's, and 8 IVF's, one pregnancy that ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks. A friend is willing to be a surrogate, using donor eggs, and I need to find medical insurance that doesn't exclude surrogacy. ANYONE know anything about this???????? ???

Lk,
The only thing I can tell you is to go online and put in keywords surrogacy medical insurance and see what comes up. You will get a lot of website and maybe you can start for there. :)

I'm in a similar position. My sister-in-law is willing to carry our baby, but she doesn't have maternity insurance at all.
I've found a few options.
www.newlifeagency.com is health insurance for surrogacy, but it's expensive. Essentially it's catastrophe insurance. It costs $9,000 and the deductible is pretty high (I'm trying to figure out how high, but I think it's about $10,000).
I've also found that calling health insurance agents in her state is useful. They can find riders and new insurance plans.

Surrogacy isn't covered, usually, however, if you are just looking for your surro to be insured, most companies have pregnancy coverage. That's all you need. BC/BS is a common one we all use. ;D
