I dont know if im pregnant.... here is some background leading up to the past few days....

I found out I was pregnant and had every symptom in the book. I was 4 weeks along when I found out. The first symptom I had was severe lower back pain. My bf was in a diff state so I waited to go to the docs until i moved. I moved 2 weeks later and I was in the docs 1 week later. They scheduled my ultrasound for 2 weeks later, but before i could get in I started bleeding very heavily with terrible cramps. I went to the e.r. and found out I was losing the baby. My m/c began on 9/16 and ended some time around 10/20. I had a really bad one, soaking through at least 2 pads an hour. When it finally finished i started bleeding again 2 weeks later, then 2 weeks after that, it was slowly becoming regular. Ive had one normal period since then, which began on 12/7..... on 12/23 i started having bad lower back pains (which are now virtually gone) and decided to be on the safe side and take a test.... positive. i took another that night and the next morning and it was the same. I dont have any symptoms.. i feel normal, but i started spotting.... first brown, then heavier to a pink/brown and now a very light red/brown flow. i took another test this morning yet again it was positive.... I dont know if im pregnant.

it could be implantation bleeding...
my monthly...
the hormone still present...
a chemical miscarriage....

I just dont know..... where can i go with no insurance, where they can verify real results with out using a hpt??? would my cervix be closed? need some advice..... really stressed out over the situation esp since i just had a m/c and im still really emotional over it. is i possible that the hormone is still present.... even though it was 2 months ago... ive read so many articles and all provide different answers and opinions.

sorry that this is soooo long. please help. :)

You may want to post this in the Medical Reference with the Doctor. He is really good about answering within a day.

I am so sorry that you lost your baby, my husband and I just lost ours and it is devastating. My prayers are with you.

Kathy

the Support Group I was talking about was the Fertility 101 with Dr Barry Jacobs. (just to clarify)

bdantonio - Dec 27th, 2007 2:13 PM

Sorry to hear of your lost. Unfortunitly i tend to know alot about m/c. I have lost 5 children to m/c. I would try your local heath clinic for example plann parenthood. There is a possiblity that you have concieved again however it sounds to me that you may need a dnc. t sounds as if you did not fully rid your body off all the product. Did your dr take another hcg beta level after your m/c to see if it came back negative. Sometimes if you m/ naturally all the baby and sac wont be dispelled and you will have to get a dnc. This can give you a false positive and even an infection in your uterus eventually. You definitly need to be checked. Yu may be pg again or you may still have some left behind. However either way you need to find out asap, even if it means goin to the er.

JennH2007 - Jan 10th, 2008 12:56 AM

I am so sorry for your loss. I've only went through it once and I could not imagine 5 times. Actually, I did go back to them but they turned me away saying that they couldn't do anything for me now that I wasnt preg anymore. I went to several planned parenthoods who have all refused to see me because I am spotting. I have also tried all the health clinics in the area but no luck with them because they want a doc referral. So I made another appt with my old doc to see if he can resolve this issue. I figure I have a positive test there is no reason now that they can turn me down again. This has been the biggest run around ever. I just want an answer.... and hopefully I can get just that on monday when I go.

bdantonio - Jan 10th, 2008 8:04 AM

I will keep you in my preayers. When you go to te dr. I would demand a u/s no matter what. to wake suere it either a pregnancy or left over from the last.

JennH2007 - Jan 10th, 2008 11:57 AM

most definitely. I am going to demand that they look at my cervix to see if it is closed and if so to do an ultrasound to make sure there is no abnormalities like last time. Last time the sac was deformed and they didnt want to use an u/s till around 12 weeks..... I was 10 weeks when I went to the e.r. to find out it died at 5. so, if it isnt closed, I want a d&c and I want the hcg levels reviewed weekly until they return to zero. I still can't believe that they turned me down last time. Im going to get a new doc if I am preg. But, I honestly don't believe I am. I go to the docs on monday finally! Hopefully this will be the last stop on this goose chase. Ive been to around 6 clinics already. Congrats on your pregnancy!!!! 38 days to go!!!

bdantonio - Jan 17th, 2008 10:40 AM

jenn what ahppeed on monday

JennH2007 - Jan 17th, 2008 4:51 PM

Well, I went in and they did a preg test.... positive and then they couldn't go any further because my insurance that I had just fixed and got settled terminated me. so.... I had to deal with the insurance company... had no luck. So I made an appt at planned parenthood for today. I just got back. They did an ultrasound and saw nothing, then a vaginal.... nothing as well. they had me take yet another preg test and of course it was positive... and they took blood to count the hcg level and do a beta.... not quite sure what a beta is though.... they told me to call tomorrow for the results. so.... not quite sure what they are going to do. they are puzzled themselves.

JennH2007 - Jan 19th, 2008 1:46 PM

well, i got my results today, the level was at 1,821..... Im going in for another reading on monday..... to see if it doubles.... or goes down. I suppose this will finally be the determining factor! :)

lyly14 - Jan 19th, 2008 10:08 PM

JennH2007- I too have had miscarriages. They are really devestating and it stinks that so many of us women have to endure them. I have been following your issue and had posted to you before on the infertility 101 board. I hope you don't mind, but I just can't help but put in my 2 cents. I noticed you said they assumed you were 4 weeks. What did they base that on? In your first post you said you had a positive test on 12/23/07. You probably wouldn't get a positive on the hpt until at least 3 1/2 to 4 weeks but you said you had your period on 12/7/07. I don't see how you would get a positive so quickly on a hpt. It has been quite some time since you took the first test and I would say if you are pregnant you should be much futher along than 4 weeks by now especially with the hcg at 1821. Anyway I am not a doctor, but that is just my opinion. Dr Jacobs mentioned the possibility of a tumor of the placenta from you previous miscarriage. You should really have them do more testing. I really hope they can give you more definitive answers on monday and everything turns out okay and you are just pg. If your hcg hits 2000 you should really go for another sono. They should be able to see something by then. I am praying for you. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Lyly

JennH2007 - Jan 20th, 2008 10:36 AM

lyly14:

well.... I honestly do not know. I talked to them about the possibility of a tumor. they said they would be able to see it on the ultrasound.... and they saw nothing. they said that they also wont do a pelvic exam till they see were it is..??? they wanted to do another ultrasound this upcoming thursday, but i honestly cannot get another one at this time. I assume that the blood will show the decrease or increase. I do see what you are saying about the dates. I did ask them in the office how soon you can get a positive after conception... they told me in some women as early as 10 days and for some... even earlier. but if we go with the 10 day theory... that would mean that i had conceived around dec 13.... I also want to let you know.... that my 'period' isn't like a normal one. I don't have it for 5-7 with horrible bleeding. Ive always been a 2-4 day person with moderate bleeding. However, they haven't been normal. only spotting for 3-4 every two weeks. So.... I don't know where the clinic got their answer in weeks. I checked it out on a few web sites and I should be like 5-6 weeks..... which would make sense with the level of hormones. I think.... that if I am preg I am 4 weeks and change or 5 by now...... I am going to get the blood work done on monday and see if it increased or decreased. If it increased I will schedule another ultrasound in the next 2 weeks. They also had told me at the docs that they didnt see anything remaining from the previous preg... Im assuming that they are referring to an attached placenta. I understand where you are coming from and I agree that the numbers don't match up. I am going to talk to them about this as well. I appreciate your help on the matter.

lyly14 - Jan 20th, 2008 11:28 AM

JennH2007- I wish you the best of luck. I know it must be hard for you to just not know what is going on. Hopefully they will get it all straightened out soon and you will have your answers!

lyly14 - Jan 21st, 2008 6:30 PM

JennH2007- Did you go for the bloodwork today? Is it good news?

JennH2007 - Jan 21st, 2008 6:55 PM

I went today and the gave me some b.s. because I went to a different office that all clinics process blood differently and that my results would be different... hahah duh! It would either go up or go down. lol they also said that they don't follow your blood levels... and how they double. So I literally drove an hour and a half to a closer planned parenthood for them to have me pay another $20 for a preg test which to them is 'mandatory' and 'protocal' every time i go. any idea on what I should do?

bdantonio - Jan 21st, 2008 6:58 PM

I just wanted to let you know that i had iui done on 5/28/07 and tested positive on a hpt on 6/8/07 it is possible.

bdantonio - Jan 21st, 2008 6:59 PM

so what did the test say. Did they do a beta?

Marina - Jan 21st, 2008 9:07 PM

Jan,sorry for jumping in,but by the test you ARE pregnant, right? So,do you know about Maternity card? They give you some type of insurance coverage if you dont have one.I think you should look into that .I don't remember the exact address, but you can google it.

JennH2007 - Jan 23rd, 2008 6:01 PM

I havent heard about that. Thanks for the heads up, I am going to check that out. I went in for another blood test today, So i will find out in 24-48 hours. Thanks for the advice!

bdantonio - Jan 23rd, 2008 11:19 PM

JennH2007 - Jan 24th, 2008 6:50 PM

So Ive had a bad day. my count went from 1,821 to 1,774... they said im miscarrying. withing 20 minutes that i got off the phone i started bleeding and had clots.... blah! this sucks. everyone is disappointed... I am too. hope you have better luck. :)

lyly14 - Jan 24th, 2008 6:59 PM

JennH2007- I am soooo sorry to hear your bad news. Any way you will be able to get insurance for yourself. You really need to be followed and make sure your numbers return to zero. Make sure you take care of yourself and when you are ready try again. I know trying again is probably the last thing on your mind right now, but after you take your time to mourn and heal you will decide what is right for you. I wish you the best of luck and we are all here when you need to talk.

bdantonio - Jan 24th, 2008 7:03 PM

hennh2007: Soo sorry for your loss, its never easy. Now that you have lost more then one you need to also make sure your dr runs some tests to see why this may be happening, before trying.

JennH2007 - Jan 24th, 2008 7:31 PM

yea thats what I want to do. I want to get a d&c. they want to do an ultrasound again..... they think its an ectopic. you must be excited!!! 24 days to go!!! send some pics ! :)

wolffie - Jan 24th, 2008 9:05 PM

jennh-

sorry to jump in on the conversation but if they think you are having an ectopic they should do an ultrasound ASAP! I don't mean to scare you but an ectopic is VERY dangerous. I had a ruptured ectopic in June and had severe internal bleeding, needed emergency surgery, blood transfusion, and the removal of one of my tubes. Please follow up with whoever you are seeing soon.

FYI - my doc didn't suspect an ectopic until it ruptured because all my blood levels were normal. I only had severe cramping right before the rupture.

wishing you the best.

daniella

JennH2007 - Jan 24th, 2008 9:20 PM

I have very high levels for 4 weeks and they suspect it. Unfortunately, I am not seeing a physician but rather going to planned parenthood because of no insurance. The ultrasound costs 100.... and I dont have the money for it right now. I do not have any pain or even cramps. I am going to try to wait another week till I get paid.

lyly14 - Jan 31st, 2008 10:06 PM

JennH2007- Just thinking about you. How are you doing?

JennH2007 - Jan 31st, 2008 10:23 PM

im not doing too bad. been bleeding very lightly.... kinda weird actually. the first one was terrible..... I think it may be because they didnt see anything on the ultrasound... so i think i started m/c very early. the first time they saw the sac at 5 weeks... this time they saw nothing.. and i have been lightly bleeding/spotting since xmas eve. ive been taking folic acid to help build the lining again.. I am waiting for medicaid to kick in so i can go to the docs. how have you been?

bdantonio - Feb 2nd, 2008 1:49 PM

arent you etting worried its a eptopic and something will go wrong?

invertigo31 - Feb 2nd, 2008 3:50 PM

Jen...

This is difficult.. I can definately relate after 9 miscarriages it's just horrible... Your symptoms seem pretty crappy and worrisome to me... Lack of money or inability to pay is not a good enuff reason to get proper care... I am worried about your symptoms because mine were the same with 2 ectopic pregnancies.. You need to call some Offices up tell them your story and see if they wont help you!!

All my failed pregnancies were during a time when I had NO insurance and even though I owe lots and lots of money I dont care because I am still ALIVE!! I could have died 2 times if I had spent any time worrying about how I was going to pay for anything!!

If all else fails go through your local E.R. and let em rack up the bills to make sure your safe. Its mandatory for them to treat or stabalize you and any unborn!!

I wish you the best of luck and send you tons of strength and a truck load of hugs!!

Heidi

JennH2007 - Feb 2nd, 2008 9:23 PM

I am not too worried that it is an ecoptic. I have no pain what so ever, not even cramps. I stopped spotting 2 days ago... been very weird. I have called offices and have had no luck. I have called and went to over 15 different offices and finally just decided to stick with planned parenthood. I cant go till this medicaid kicks in. I have $2,000 from my last e.r. visit in sep. and $2600 in c.c. debt. I am not bleeding profusely and I have no pain so I a going to wait. I should have it in the next 2 weeks or so. Ive just been lightly spotting for over a month now.... so... idk it is weird. The minute tho that I have any pain I will go immediately. Do you think that it is possible that I could still be?? probably not because the levels dropped 75 points.

wolffie - Feb 2nd, 2008 10:41 PM

jennh -

i did not have any symptoms at all until my ectopic ruptured! i had massive internal bleeding and required emergency surgery and the removal of one tube. had i not gone to the hospital right away i would have died. it was the worst experience of my life. you mentioned before that they already told you that they suspected an ectopic. you really should have that checked out. your life is more important than anything. another u/s at planned parenthood can't be that expensive. we are all very concerned for you.
