False Positive Chromopertubation?

Dear Dr. Jacobs,

Do you know the false positive rate of diagnosing proximal tubal occlusion during a laparascopic surgery? My HSG did not show any blockage, but during the lap, the dye did not go into either tube. Could the difference be due to a spasm during the lap?

It is probably not spasm. That is probably an over diagosed entity. It is possible that the canulat used to inject the dye at laparoscopy ws blocked. Without reviewing your HSG films and being present at your laparoscopy, I really have no way to advise you.
